Maud Gonne Spirit (11/2 into 9/2) delivered for her supporters in the Gowran Park Business Club Handicap.
Co favourite of three at that price, along with Kokura (6th) and Kodiac Prince (5th), Jessica Harrington’s charge chased the leaders under Shane Foley.
Third at the halfway stage, the Intello filly was ridden to go second a furlong and a half out and she led under a furlong out.
The chestnut kept on well in the closing stages to beat outsider, Angel’s Trumpet (40s into 28s) by two and a half lengths.
“It’s horses for courses and she seems to like it here (Maud Gonne Spirit won her maiden here in July). We had a nice draw and got a good tow into it. She picked up well and stayed going well,” said Foley.
“It’s testing heavy ground but she handled it well."
The Stewards fined Charles O'Brien, trainer, €65 for failing to fit a hood to Intervention (GB), prior to entering the parade ring.
R.P. Cleary, rider of Kodiac Prince trained by Thomas Cleary, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got a bit tight for room turning in.
