The John Kiely trained Up For The Match overcame a 16lbs rise for his recent Gowran win when justifying 4/1 favouritism in the 22 runner Naas Supporters Handicap Hurdle at Naas today.
Ridden by Alan Crowe, the gelding moved to the front at the final flight before staying on well for a four and a quarter lengths win over Shamiran
Afterwards Kiely said “Up For The Match keeps improving and he liked that drying out ground. He'll be a nice chaser in a year and if the ground stays safe he'll go to Punchestown.”
