Joey Sheridan conjured up a power-packed finish from Marty The Party to run down Spanish Flame in the valuable Blackwater Handicap at Naas.
The flashy son of Starspangledbanner came down the stands' side and raced past Spanish Flame, on the far side, to hit the front in the closing stages.
He won by a snug length and a-quarter to justify 9/4 favouritism from the 12/1 runner-up. Cardinal Zin was half a length off the runner-up in third at 13/2.
Fozzy Stack said: “I was hoping that he was better than his mark and it worked out that way. He probably ran into one the last day at the Curragh.
“He’s improved a lot physically from two to three and hopefully he’ll get a bit further.
“He should get a mile and a quarter and he’s in the new (Irish Stallion Farms EBF Gowran Classic) race in Gowran, the 200 grand race, he qualifies for that.”
Marty The Party landed €26,550 with this success.
