The Mirror Handicap at Down Royal saw a thrilling finish with the Dave Marnane trained Santo Padre under Colm O’Donoghue just getting up on the line to deny Sioduil from the Jim Bolger stable by a short-head.

Winning trainer Marnane said afterwards: “We’re delighted with the result. He absolutely hated that ground he would prefer it faster .”

“Everything going well he will go for the Portland Handicap at Doncaster over 5f in two weeks time.”

The Stewards are to hold an enquiry into the withdrawl of Capall An Ibre as he was withdrawn at 4.25 but was never announced over the public address.
