Marnane and Foley in double form
Dave Marnane and Shane Foley recorded a quick double this evening when Spirit Of Xaar landed the Pubs of Trim Handicap.
Foley who carried the colours of Thomas Molan settled his mount in rear and made his progress entering the straight.
The son of Xaar stayed on well to lead inside the final furlong to record a length and three parts win over Anam Chara
Winning trainer Marnane said afterwards: “That was great, it’s my first double. I’ve had doubles before but never at the same track.”
“I’m delighted for the owner who also bred the horse. He’s been unlucky in a few of his races, he got there a bit too soon and the ground at Naas came up soft the last day.”
“We’ll see what the handicapper does with him but a seven furlong race around Galway would be perfect for him.”
