Kevin Manning substituted for the injured Fran Berry to win on Jessica Harrington’s New Magic which defied top weight to win the www.totegoracingclub.com Handicap at Galway today.

A Stewards Enquiry was subsequently called into slight interference, one furlong out, involving runner-up Flameoftheforest and third placed Snap Alam but no alteration was made to the result.

Afterwards Harrington stated “New Magic lacked a bit of experience but ran well at The Curragh the last day – we will step her up to 10 furlongs later in the year.”

Berry, who missed both his intended rides today, was stood down having injured his heel at the track yesterday when his mount Amazing Star acted up in the parade ring. Berry is awaiting x-ray results on the heel before making a return to race-riding.
