Parenting seems a prominent theme at Tramore today, with Dont Tell Pa becoming the second winner of the afternoon to feature a parent-child combination, providing Jimmy Mangan and his daughter Jane with success in the Tramore Racecourse On Facebook Handicap Hurdle.
Trainer Mags Mullins and her jockey son Danny had earlier combined to win the opener but the Mangans trumped that by adding a second parent to the scoreboard as Mary Mangan was credited as the winning owner. Adding to this, Dont Tell Pa was the second son of stallion Oscar to win on the day.
Mangan Jnr, riding just her ninth winner and her first in her mother's colours, looks set for a big future in the game and, as expected, produced the gelding with perfect timing to lead early on the run-in, for a staying on success over Renoyr
Afterwards trainer Jimmy Mangan stated “he ran a great race at Listowel when the ground was much worse that today and he's in at Fairyhouse and Limerick at the weekend but Jane said he just got away on the going there so we'll see whether or not to run him.
“If it was any heavier he wouldn't be running. won't run if its too heavy but before the handicapper gets him
“He's a nice fun horse and we're using a tongue tie recently which seems to be working well.”
