Trainer Tim Doyle recorded his biggest win at Naas today as stable star Mallowney made virtually all under Davy Russell to win the Grade 2 Paddy Power Your Local Betting Shop Chase.

The son of Oscar had progressed very well in recent times and, having won January's Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase on the bridle, followed up in fairly similar fashion today, albeit racing more prominently.

Russell moved Mallowney to the front from the second fence and from there the pair weren't headed.

The Henry De Bromhead trained Moscow Mannon a capable six times winner, was in pursuit of the winner when unfortunately taking a fatal final fence fall.

Following Mallowney's win, Doyle reported "I was hoping he'd do that, and it was very similar to the way he won the Dan Moore. Davy thinks he's getting more relaxed.

"We'll stick to our plan, and he'll probably go to Fairyhouse for the Normans Grove and Punchestown (Champion Chase) after that. He's relaxing earlier in his races and Davy seems to have the key to him.

"He's four wins from four races around here, and that's his first Grade 2 win."

The winner carries the colours of Glebeland Farm Syndicate, whose members include politician Michael Lowry.
