Gavin Cromwell 's Malina Girl bids to exploit a much lower hurdle mark in relation to her chase rating in the QuinnBet Mares Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown today.
She races off 113, some 31lb lower than her chase figure, and Conor Stone-Walsh takes 5lb off her back.
Cromwell said: “Two and a half (miles) is probably short enough for her, but I suppose when you compare her hurdle mark to her chase mark you have to give her a chance.
“Clearly she’s a lot better chaser than she is a hurdler.
“The Grand National is the plan if she gets in.”
Malina Girl was successful in last season's Ulster National at Downpatrick.
