Longstanding maiden Mickey The Steel (6/1) gained an overdue win today, landing Dundalk's concluding Book Online At DundalkStadium.com Maiden for trainer Joe Murray, owner Lisa Sheridan and jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle.
A runner-up eight times from 24 runs, the son of Hot Streak's losing run today ended as he beat Greek Flower by a length and a quarter.
Browne McMonagle was riding the four year old for the first time but appreciated the achievement, saying “that was a long time coming!
"Looking at the form beforehand if he put 80 per cent of his ability into it, he would have carried them. He has been running in competitive races, has always been knocking on the door but everything fell right for him.”
The Champion Apprentice added “he jumped off, travelled and we were hoping there would be loads of speed on, so I could drop his head early and have him coming home.
"He picked up well and I thought I won well at the line. I'm just delighted to get his head in front."
