Magic Double for Murtagh
Earlier successful on Emperor Claudius Johnny Murtagh completed a double on Magic Mornings who ended a sequence of second placings in the Fairyhouse Summer Series Maiden.
Backed from 4/1 into 11/4, this daughter of Bahri, soon led and despite drifting left inside the final furlong, the Michael Halford-trained three-year-old, part-owned by Murtagh's wife, Orla, did enough to hold market-leading newcomer, Grandiflora by half a length.
Halford said: "She ran well last year and deserved to win this. She was fit and well and her experience helped her. It was great to get Johnny to ride her. She'll probably go for a fillies handicap on Derby weekend."
