Lynch/Gilligan win feature at Fairyhouse
Jockey Andrew Lynch and Paul Gilligan continued their good run when winning the Grade One Powers Gold Cup with 25/1 shot Jadanli
It was a dramatic finish to the race with the travelling well Zaarito crashing out at the third last, Roberto Goldback falling at the last and Shakervilz unshipped Ruby Walsh at last but then remounted to finish third.
The testing conditions really took their toll on the field with only three horses finishing.
Lynch who was hard at work in second approaching the straight was soon left in front at the third last.
The son of Saddlers' Hall was clear from before the last and kept on to post a twenty three length win.
Winning trainer Gilligan said afterwards: "He ran well at Navan the last day. He's a family horse, he injured his tendon and missd two years so it's great to get him back."
"We thought about the Irish National but as he was a novice we left it. That'll be the long term plan for next."
"He will go for the three mile novice chase at Punchestown next."
