- Lucky Thirteen for Silver
Lucky Thirteen for Silver
Appropriately enough on outing number thirteen, the 79-rated Silver Shoon finally lost her maiden tag in the John & Terry Moriarty Memorial Median Auction Maiden.
Pat Smullen was always travelling well on the daughter of Fasliyev, but given her history of hitting the crossbar those that invested at 4/5 must have been a little worried when she had to chase down All In Clover from the furlong and a half point.
However Smullen didn't have to exert maximum pressure on the grey to narrowly take All In Clover's measure inside the final furlong, Dermot Weld's charge crossing the line half a length to the good.
Silver Shoon had a career high rating of 97, was listed placed at two and three and was runner-up in a Group 3. The three-year-old had either headed or disputed favouritism on eight previous occasions so connections will no doubt be delighted to have finally achieved a win.
