Loughnane makes welcome return to form
Daniel Mark Loughnane's Johnston Lad burst through late to win the five furlong handicap at Dundalk, at 14/1 in the hands of Pat Smullen, by a neck from Primalova with a further two lengths back to Statue of Dreams in third.
Loughnane said: "I knew they would go off fast but that he would come home well despite being drawn out in the car park.
"My horses have been sick all summer and they are just coming right now after we had a good year last year.
"The owners deserved that win. They have been with me a long time and are good owners."
The on course money for Atlantic Cycle (14/1 - 8/1) went awry as the filly finished third last.
