Lordan gets Masters home in opener
The opening auction maiden at Roscommon produced a thrilling finish with The Four Masters just edging the verdict under Wayne Lordan.
The David Wachman-trained colt threw down a strong challenge to leader Long Time Coming inside the final furlong while Jamesie also threatened on the outside.
The was little to split the front two as they flashed past the post with The Four Masters just getting the verdict despite running slightly green in the closing stages.
Jamesie had no more to offer close home, three-parts-of-a-length back in third.
"He's a grand horse. He's big and could be a nice horse in time," said Wachman.
"Weakness just caught him out in the last 100 yards."
