Lordan "Takes" double with Whatever
Wayne Lordan completed a double on the evening when giving 4/1 chance Whatever It Takes a strong drive to just touch off Music On D Waters in the mile and a half handicap.
Lordan, also successful in the opener on Self Preservation and now on the 23 winner mark for the season, brought the J P McManus-owned gelding from an unpromising position over a furlong out to edge out Music On D Waters (9/1) in the final strides. Newmarket Story (14/1) was just a length and a quarter back in third, with top-weight Golan Go (10/1) the same distance back in fourth.
Winning trainer Tommy Stack was represented by his son and assistant Fozzy, who said, “Wayne gave him a very good ride, and said he could do with the McCoy drive! He'll go jumping eventually, and will run next in another handicap wherever he gets in. That's our first winner on the Flat for JP.”
