Local Gamble Landed by Nagle
Alickadoo and The Bishop Looney have given Tom Nagle some memorable days at his local track in Cork and the Killavullen handler and his supporters had further cause to celebrate when Bar The Rest (12s into 5s) landed a gamble in the Navigation Road Novice Handicap Hurdle under Stephen Gray.
This son of Oscar was unlucky in running when fourth (well-backed) at Down Royal on St Patrick's Day.
Just five days later here, he was always on a strong gallop with Nipper John clear of the remainder, and he jumped really well which helped him hold off the staying-on-well Swift Counsel by half a length.
Nagle said: "He met fierce trouble in running in Down Royal the last day. He got hemmed in everywhere. I thought he'd win there and here." (EM)
