Linehan the Star at Sligo
Sixteen year old apprentice jockey Eddie Linehan recorded his first winner at Sligo this evening, partnering Shanghai Star to win the Sligo Claiming Race, for his employer Willie Mullins.
Linehan chased the son of Soviet Star behind the leaders, before eventually moving through to lead inside the final furlong, eventually holding on by a short head from Fleeing Moment.
Mullins was absent but Linehan, from Mallow, Co Cork, did mention "that was my fourth racecourse ride and I rode 45 pony race winners on the southern pony racing circuit last year."
