J.P. McManus' Limerick Lace was the well backed winner (2/1 — 11/8f) of Punchestown's Hollywoodbets Money Back (Mares) Maiden Hurdle today, scoring for trainer Gavin Cromwell and jockey Mark Walsh.
Homebred by Noreen McManus, three of Limerick Lace's half-siblings Spades Are Trumps (by Yeats), Ilikedwayurthinkin (Yeats) and Walk Me Home (Galileo) were trained to win races by Cromwell and today the daughter of Walk In The Park beat Broomfield Hall to win by three and a half lengths.
It was the family's ninth sibling success for her trainer Cromwell, who later said “she's a lovely big mare and the way she jumps a hurdle she'll be a nice one to go chasing with at some stage.
“She got into a little bit of a pocket there. She'll stay further and I'd say she needs every yard of that (2m4f 130yds).”
