Lil Ella defied a 292 day absence with a last gasp success in the Supermac's Castlebaldwin Handicap under Fran Berry.
The head win for the daughter of Pearl Of Love wasn't entirely unexpected either as she was backed from 12/1 into 8/1. Another 'money' horse here was the favourite, King's Vintage but she could manage only sixth.
Winning trainer, Christy Roche said: "She has been working well at home and I knew she was going well. For a change I'm hoping the handicapper might give her a few pounds and that she might get into a big fillies handicap at Leopardstown (on Champion Stakes Day).
Tim Kavanagh from Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow owns the winner.
