Jockey Andrew Leigh recorded his seventh win of the season when steering the Sean Byrne trained Lead Kindly Light to win the Bar One Racing Ballyhack Handicap Steeplechase (Grade B) at Fairyhouse today.
Leigh held the eight year old daughter of Beneficial up in mid-division before progressing before the home straight. The winner went to the front before the final fence and stayed on well for a two and a quarter lengths win over Far Away So Close
Byrne, from Castledermot, Co Kildare, later stated “it takes two runs to get her settled and she'll go to Leopardstown at Christmas for a two miles handicap chase next. She is rated a good bit lower over hurdles and will go back hurdling at some stage.”
