The Jessica Harrington-trained Not Many Left was another well backed winner at Navan this afternoon when running out a convincing victor in the two-and-a-half mile maiden hurdle.
The Oscar gelding had finished a promising fifth behind Flawless Escape on his hurdling debut at Leopardstown over Christmas and attracted support today from 14/1 this morning into 3/1 on course.
Robbie Power produced his mount to lead at the second last and he powered clear of his field over the final flight to record a 10-length success. Mortal stayed on to claim the runner-up spot while 6/4 favourite Antey could only manage sixth.
Power said:- “He’s a very nice horse, a true stayer and handled the conditions very well.
“Being by Oscar he should be better on a bit nicer ground but he’d want three miles on better ground.
“He’d a good first run over hurdles at Leopardstown and he learned a lot that day. He’s going to be a nice chaser next season.”
