Grey Leader produced a game front-running performance to land the spoils in the Rockshore Refreshingly Irish Handicap for Joe Murphy.
The grey bounced out in front in the mile contest but was joined at halfway by Lust
Gary Carroll asked the 10/1 shot to go on at the two furlong pole but he was joined again by Genuine Article passing the furlong pole.
There was soon nothing between the pair but Grey Leader found a bit more close home to secure a half length success over the 11/4 favourite.
"I'm delighted with that as it was a hard blow to take when losing a horse (Sionnach Eile) on Monday night,” said Murphy.
"This horse was unlucky at Leopardstown the last day and I thought the handicapper was a bit harsh but again I was proved wrong.
“We have him in again on Sunday over seven furlongs so we'll see how he comes out of this race and that's where he'll go next.
"He'll get his 7lb penalty and that should get him in."
He added:- "Gary is with us 17 years, we have a great relationship which is all about trust and while some days are good and some bad, you stick with it and he is a lovely person into the bargain."
