Larry Springs Another Shock
It isn't often that you have back-to-back 50/1 winners at an Irish meeting but so was the case when Larry Luso followed on from Social Society in the Thomastown Handicap Hurdle, winning by six lengths under Barry Cash for trainer, Danny O'Sullivan.
Mitchelstown-based O'Sullivan last visited the winner's enclosure under Rules courtesy of Chinese Temple in May 2007 but he did have a point-to-point winner at Lisronagh last Sunday.
He said: "I thought he wanted soft ground. The three mile trip helped him, all he does is keep galloping. I won't run him on rock hard ground and he'll be a better horse next year over fences."
Gamble of the contest, Hilts (8s in the morning into 11/4 favourite) was well out of it when pulling up before the last. (EM)
