At the eighth time of asking Lady Giselle got off the mark when making all in the one mile maiden at Listowel.
Gary Carroll bounced out smartly to lead on the 6/4 shot, while 11/8 favourite Cocktail Hour and Pat Smullen were content to track her throughout, in this six-runner contest.
As Lady Giselle took the home turn it became apparent that Cocktail Hour wasn’t going to be winning today as she started to toil in second.
As Lady Giselle kept up the gallop, the lead was increased to five lengths at the winning post.
Successful trainer John Walsh said: “She had been running well all year and was a bit unlucky at Roscommon when they tightened her girths at the start and she reared up [withdrawn on May 20].
“She didn’t have a lot to beat today. That’s a first winner for her owner/breeder Richie Cavanagh. He’s been waiting a while for this.
“She’ll go back handicapping now and we’ll see if we can pick up another one.”
