Lady Bennett proves too strong
Lady Bennett took Down Royal’s feature race, the fillies handicap, when getting on top of her rivals in the last 100 yards to score by half a length and justify 3/1 favouritism. Dart Queen (9/1) was runner-up, one length in front of Gypsie Queen (9/2).
Several horses looked to have chances at the furlong pole including eventual fourth Adiynara but Charlie Swan’s three-year-old filly came home best.
Swan said: “She got a nice bit of weight off the older horses. Chris gave her a lovely ride as she’s not simple.
“She’s entered at Galway and we might put her out again quickly.
“She is in there on the Thursday (three-year-olds only) and later in the week (three-year-olds and upwards). Both races are over a mile and a half which I think she gets.”
