Lad deals another blow for favourite backers
Favourite backers received their fourth reverse of the day in the Caragh Maiden Hurdle at Naas today, when 8/11f Gagewell Flyer could only manage sixth behind 16/1 winner Leggy Lad
Leggy Lad was produced with a well times challenge under promising conditional jockey Eddie O'Connell, who eventually forced the son of Denel to the front close home, holding on for a head win over Taking Stock The winner stumbled and unseated O'Connell after passing the winning line but both horse and rider emerged unscathed.
Afterwards Portadown based winning trainer Stephen McConville, who has just four horses in training, reported “I thought Leggy Lad would run well today after his good run at Fairyhouse the last day. The drying ground helped but I've no plans from here.”
