Review LEOPARDSTOWN 16th Jul
Dermot Weld has some big targets in mind for Luminous Eyes after she made every yard of the running in the Group Three Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown under Pat Smullen.
The 9-2 chance was making her first foray in Pattern company and was soon at the head of affairs.
Hot favourite Chintz tracked her into the straight and although she looked a danger with two furlongs to run, Luminous Eyes galloped on strongly to score by two and a half lengths.
Weld said afterwards the Debutante Stakes at the Curragh is her likely next port of call, with the Moyglare also a possibility if she continues to progress.
Weld and Smullen doubled up as Soaring Emotions held the fast-finishing Timoca to land the Foxrock Maiden, with a great night for the pair complete when the improving Profound Beauty hacked up in the Listed Challenge Stakes.< Incline made the most a drop in class to take the opening Kilmacud Claiming race.
Despite a long losing streak, the nine-year-old was sent off the 9-10 favourite for this modest event and after travelling strongly throughout under Johnny Murtagh, he showed an impressive change of gear to pass the post three lengths clear of Gracious Girl
He is now set to bid for back-to-back successes in the tote Galway Mile at the big festival meeting.< Mourayan (5-2) made the most of his previous race experience to take the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden.
Only eighth on his debut, the juvenile seemed to know more about his job this time as he got the better of newcomer Broad Meaning by a cosy three lengths.
The Mike Cronin Readymix Ltd. Handicap Hurdle was the pick of the action at Killarney and it was Green Mile who came out on top after a thrilling finish.
There were three in line running down to the final flight but it was Tony Martin's charge who came away from it the best under Robbie Colgan and he ran away to beat Im A Witness by three and a half lengths. The Galway Plate is expected to be his next port of call.
