The Crawford brothers are serious operators as they've proved many times in the past. Their former charge, Masters Hill looked a good horse when winning for the Tizzards at Chepstow yesterday. Well the Larne, County Antrim yard have another very decent young prospect on their hands with Killyglass victorious on his debut in the concluding Spawell (C & G) (Pro/Am) Flat Race at Wexford.

This was expected too. The Steven Crawford-ridden Heron Island five-year-old was backed from 7/1 into 100/30 and he ran out an easy four and a quarter length winner over the similarly well-supported recent point-to-point scorer, Abbey Storm

Successful trainer Stuart Crawford was perplexed as regards the gamble and he said: "I don't know where the money came for him because I didn't have a penny on him.

"I was glad of that bit of rain beforehand as it just made it safe. I was in two minds whether or not to run him before that.

"He is doing everything right at home and I like him a lot.

"His next stop will probably be at the Brightwells Sales. I bought him at the Derby Sales around a year ago.

"It will take around four hours to get home to Larne now but the roads are good." (DM & EM)
