Killogan wins for Carroll and Moran
Capable seven pounds claimer Tim Carroll partnered Killogan Lass to win the Freshford Handicap Hurdle at Gowran today for trainer Mikey Moran.
Carroll, a brother of Flat jockey Gary Carroll, moved Killogan Lass to lead entering the straight before keeping the mare up to her work to deny Bennys Quest on the run-in.
The runner-up was subsequently disqualified as his rider, Harley Dunne, failed to weigh in. The Stewards later handed Dunne a five day suspension for the incident.
Afterwards Moran said “Tim rode her before and said she wanted a trip and that ground.
“If the handicapper isn’t too hard on her he might go for another handicap hurdle or else she’ll go for a mares beginners’ chase next at a track like Thurles.”
