Erratic Path ran out a convincing winner of the nine-furlong maiden at Gowran to give Colin Keane a double on the card and move him one ahead of Pat Smullen in the jockey's title race.
Keane had the 5/1 shot prominent throughout and he hit the front turning for home.
Ger Lyons' charge stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a seven-length winning margin over 11/8 favourite Spring Garden
The winner had finished second on his debut at Navan in June but was well beaten subsequently at Killarney.
“We're delighted with that and we've always liked this horse,” said Shane Lyons.
“We probably made a little bit of a mistake stepping him up in trip too quickly as we felt he was more of a stayer.
“He has speed and he was a little bit weak at the time to step him up drastically, hence the run at Killarney.
“On his first run you'd have to fancy him today. Dropping him back in trip has done the trick.
“He's a brother to Elusive Heights out of a good mare that we trained, a group 3 winner, and he's only going to get better with strength and time. He's a nice horse. We'll have a chat with Patrick (Cooper) and he's a horse with a future.
“He's acted on that ground and we'll see what's left for him.”
