Gordon Elliott winning a staying handicap chase is certainly nothing out of the ordinary but Kayf Thou gave those who regularly follow the Cullentra House trainer a tasty boost when taking the Bobbyjo Bistro Great Food Great Deals Handicap Chase at odds of 20/1.
The eight-year-old gelding hadn’t seen a racecourse until last March but was friendless here on his handicap debut having failed to feature in six previous starts.
The 16-year-old See Double You looked set to strike a blow for the super seniors when leading between the final two fences but was collared by the winner just after the last.
Kayf Thou stayed on well to beat See Double You by a length and a quarter, with a pair of 13-year-olds Fergiethelegend and Witness Of Fashion completing the minor places.
Elliott said, "That's grand. He was a nice winner. He's a horse for the future and a big chaser in the making.”
