There is simply no stopping Jessica Harrington’s juvenile fillies at present and at odds of 16/1 her Justina went in on debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (Plus 10 Race) at Roscommon.
Mrs Harrington also had Recall The Show (11/1) in the line-up in the hands of stable jockey Shane Foley.
However she had to settle for fifth place and up front under Tom Madden Justina proved stronger inside the final furlong, than odds-on favourite Potala Palace
The second was never far away and travelled well but eventually had to yield to Justina at a distance of half a length.
Sir Peter Vela bred Justina with Richmond and Jeremy Gompertz. Vela owns the daughter of Holy Roman Emepror with Yvonne Nicoll.
The likes of Eminent represented Vela with distinction in the past.
“It was a bit of a shock but she was going well at home. Jessie’s tend to come on a lot from their first runs but she’s a hardy little type," said Madden.
“All the two-year-old fillies in the yard are flying.”
