Gavin Cromwell and Sean Davis teamed up to land the Daragh Fitzpatrick & Colm White Local Bookmakers November Handicap as Jukebox Jive recorded a 20/1 surprise in the Naas feature.
Buildmeupbuttercup one of eight runners for the powerful Willie Mullins yard in this €100,000 Premier Handicap, looked set to score when travelling well to challenge in the straight.
However Jukebox Jive, formerly trained by Anthony Honeyball and Jamie Osborne before recently joining Cromwell, dug deep in the closing stages to beat the mare by a length and three quarters.
Halimi was a further length and a half away in third, with Dalton Highway staying on late to take fourth.
Cromwell said, “He appreciated that ground more than he did in Dubai. Since I’ve got him I thought he was crying out for soft ground.
“I only have him about five weeks but I thought he’d run a big race.
“He’s won a juvenile hurdle first time out and was bought to go hurdling. We said that we would give this a crack first. It’s great as we were beaten a short-head in this race with Highland Fling two years ago.”
