Soon-to-be-licensed Joseph O'Brien trained the winner of the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden at Navan today as his Hyzenthlay caused a 20/1 upset, when ridden to victory by his sister Ana O'Brien.
The daughter of Henrythenavigator was prominent along the running rail throughout and once moving to the front under two furlongs out, stayed on gamely to defeat Oh Grace by half a length.
Favourite Cuff (15/8) raced for Hyzenthlay's official trainer Aidan O'Brien and ran an eye-catching race when a staying on fourth, having been outpaced early in the race.
Following Hyzenthlay's success, Joseph O'Brien stated “she was going nicely and showing plenty of speed. It was our first two-year-old to run from the hill (in Piltown ,where he trains), and we were not sure what kind of marker we had on them.
"We weren't going to run her because of the ground but she might be a Stakes type filly."
