A fortnight on from his chase debut over the course and distance Jetz (4/1) showed a determined attitude to triumph in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Navan.
A mistake three out saw Robbie Power unseated from the Flemensfirth gelding fourteen days back, but Jessica Harrington's charge got around alright on this occasion to beat Gigginstown House Stud pair Duca De Thaix (9/2 into 7/2) and Or Jaune De Somoza (20/1) by half a length and a length and a quarter.
Odds-on favourite Paloma Blue had no extra to give from two out and ended up eleven lengths off the principals in fourth.
Paddy Power go 50/1 1st show about Jetz for the Racing Post Arkle.
Robbie Power intimated in the aftermath that Jetz is likely to go up in trip as stamina is his strong suit.
He said: "They went a stronger gallop today and I was flat to the boards leaving the back straight but it’s a stiff two mile and one around here and his stamina kicked in at the end of the day. He’ll be stepping up in trip from now on.
“He was a little bit keen all last year and we said we’d just run him over two. He’s got a high cruising speed and hopefully it’s served a purpose.
“He was a bit cautious with his jumping down the back but you’d forgive him that after his faux pas the last day. When I wanted him in the straight he was very good. Stamina is his forte and he was just touched off in a Grade 1 last year over two miles and six.”
The Stewards wished to interview Ronan M.P. McNally, trainer of The Jam Man regarding the late arrival of his charge into the parade ring.
It transpired that Mr. McNally was not present, nor did he have an authorised representative present at this meeting.
The Stewards therefore found M.P. McNally in breach of Rule 147 (v) for failing to appoint an authorised representative and imposed a fine of €130.00 on him.
As there was no authorised representative capable of being interviewed by the Stewards concerning the late arrival into the parade ring, the Stewards referred the matter to the Referrals Committee.
