Grade 1-placed Irascible (4/1) returned to form with a second hurdle win today, landing Cork's Baroneracing.com Hurdle for trainer Henry De Bromhead, jockey Rachael Blackmore and owners Gigginstown House Stud.
The son of Jukebox Jury chased home Appreciate It in a top-level Leopardstown hurdle during Christmas 2020, having previously won a Clonmel maiden, and returned to action following a year layoff in February.
Today's race was run in heavy rain and despite being off the bridle for the final mile, Irascible maintained his gallop to grind out a hard-fought neck win over Cash Back
Blackmore later commented “he is quite a lazy horse but has some lovely form back along and it is great to see him get his head in front. I think when he sees a fence he will improve again.
“It was very wet out there and is loose ground.”
