The Jim Bolger-trained Intensical put his experience to good use when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Roscommon.
The Intense Focus juvenile was highly tried to two subsequent outings at the Curragh including behind Great White Eagle in the Group 3 Go And Go Round Tower Stakes earlier this month.
Kevin Manning sent the 4/1 chance (available at 11/2 this morning) to the front over a furlong out, and his mount just held off the unconsidered newcomer Vector Force (25/1) by a head.
The Ballydoyle trained John Constable was all the rage, supported on track right down to 8/15 having been available at evens in the morning.
However he took a long time to get into top gear in the straight before finishing well to be just a further head adrift in third.
Manning said, “Having the experience was huge but I was glad to see the line. They were really flashing home but he struck at it well.”
