Inca gets motoring late in bumper
Incas Article found another gear inside the final furlong to land the spoils in the concluding Suir Valley bumper at Clonmel. Stormy Oscar looked set to collect when getting the better of Ontheground at the furlong pole but had no answer to the charge of the winner.
Nina Carberry had been at work from before the straight on the 10/3 favourite but she worked her way into contention with a furlong to run and soon quickened to claim her rivals.
The debutante daughter of Definite Article started to pull away in the closing stages for a three-and-a-half length success.
"She's a lovely mare but is still a bit of a baby," said trainer Gordon Elliott afterwards. She'll probably go for a mares bumper or maybe a bumper in England."
