The Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Package Handicap was a well-contested race at Dundalk with several tumbling in price from morning trading. Hot Bed went from 9/1 into 5/1 on track and he got the job done under Fran Berry to bring up a double for the Kildare rider.
Those on the front end fared best as is often the case when a race isn't truly run.
Berry, earlier successful on Akasaka was always prominent in the Robert Ogden silks and the David Wachman-trained Hot Bed stayed on well inside the final furlong to beat Regulation by a length and a quarter.
Berry commented: "David said he loves the surface and runs well fresh (came here off a 196 day break).
"I got a nice position and he picked up well going to the two furlong pole. He kept on well and it was a good performance." (AM & EM)
