Hennessy creates the big news at Dundalk
The names of some of his canine stars such as Tyrur Ted, Late Late Show, Mr Pickwick, Hello Bud, Tyrur Rhino etc, etc. roll off the tongue for followers of greyhound racing but for their trainer Paul Hennessy there will now be an equine name etched in his memory for ever more as Cheers Buddy gave him his first winner with his first runner as a racehorse trainer.
Joseph O'Brien forced Cheers Buddy up in a blanket finish to beat Devonelli by a neck in the i105-107FM Handicap at Dundalk.
Hennessy said: "I think I'll quit now! I have three horses in and in fairness Tony Mullins did all the homework with this fellow.
"I use his gallops and I thought this horse was very fit coming here. Joseph gave him a peach of a ride and it's special as I've known him since he was a lad. The horse was gelded last November."
