Heffernan back to winning ways over hurdles
Irish Derby winning jockey Seamus Heffernan made a winning return to jump racing with a win on Sanglote in the opening ITBA Southern Region Maiden Hurdle at Limerick today.
The son of Poliglote raced prominently throughout, improved to lead after the second last before Heffernan effectively sealed the win with a big jump at the final flight, defeating Bannow Rose by two lengths.
Griffin was in Leopardstown but Heffernan did report "I rode a winner for Michael Hourigan at this meeting five years ago and it's great to get a winner over hurdles again! Sanglote probably benefited from first time blinkers."
