Hayes shines on Reelin
Chris Hayes gave Rockin N Reelin an enterprising ride to claim the concluding Freshford Handicap at Gowran Park.
The Jim Gorman-trained gelding poached a long lead in the early stages and still had a healthy advantage turning in.
Hayes kept his mount wide in search of better ground and soon kicked for home on the three-year-old.
He stayed on well in response, coming home a seven-length winner from Man In Black
"I said to him beforehand we would have to go wide and he said he might go very wide," said Gorman.
"The ground on the outside hadn't been watered. He kicked on and stayed on well in the end.
"A lot of initiative was used by the jockey. He's in at Killarney on Monday so we'll see how he comes out of this."
