Hawk in quick follow-up
Gary Carroll went back to the head of the apprentice table when excelling on Hawkhill in the Golf Members At Gowran Park Handicap.
The son of Hawk Wing, successful at Fairyhouse only last Sunday, appeared to have plenty to do as the race developed in the straight but he got on top near the line to beat Putapriceonthat by a head.
Winning trainer Mick Halford said: "He got fired out a bit there in the straight and had to switch back in. I thought it was gone on him then but fair play to Gary, he gave him a great ride. We were lucky then that the line came in time.
"He is entered in Doncaster Sales which are on November 4th and 5th although we are getting a bit fond of him now. He'll run again before then as he is fit and well and he has his ground."
