Harty/Berry on the mark
Local trainer Eddie Harty was in the winner’s enclosure this afternoon when Siege Ennis came home in front of the Sir Edmund Loder Lifetime Achievement In Racing Handicap under a very patient ride by Fran Berry.
Berry settled his mount in mid-division and moved through the field to take up the lead inside the final furlong.
The six year old kept on well close home to record a half length success over Champion Boy
Winning trainer Harty said afterwards: “We knew the horse was in good form, he didn’t let himself down on the fast ground the last day.”
“He’s a tricky ride but Fran [Berry] gave him a lovely ride, he didn’t know he was in the race until as late as possible.”
