Hartani completed a hat-trick of wins when winning the Group 3 At The Races Curragh Cup at The Curragh today, displaying an excellent attitude and an abundance of stamina to score for trainer John Oxx and jockey Johnny Murtagh.
Previously successful when grinding out two wins at Tipperary, Hartani raced prominently and moved to the front early in the straight, before staying on strongly for a comfortable win over Midnight Soprano (denied a six-timer in the process).
Afterwards Oxx stated “he is a good stayer and he really does go well on the soft ground. He is a lovely, sensible, good matured horse and the more he went, the more he stretched away.
“We look on him as a St Leger candidate - we'll have him in both the English and Irish ones before making a decision He is improving and Johnny said of all the horses he rode this weekend, this one handled the ground best.
Paddy Power Bookmakers subsequently introduced Hartani at 20/1 for the English St Leger.
