Veteran all-weather specialist Harry's Bar (10/1) continues to excel on Dundalk's synthetic surface and today scored an 8th course win in the Gateway Hotel Dundalk Race & Stay Race.
The Exceed And Excel eight-year-old has failed in 16 lifetime runs on turf but in a 39-race all-weather career, has won 16 times and today held on to defeat slow-starting fast-finishing The Highway Rat by a neck.
Harry's Bar carries the colours of Shamrock Thoroughbreds and afterwards trainer McGuinness reported “he's been a great money spinner. I'm delighted with him and Cian (MacRedmond) gave him a great ride.
“A huge thing with him here is that he needs that inside draw as he's inclined to lug when he's on the outside - I don't know why. Cian was very good on him and that's his third win on him.
“Small fields suit him and he's just so much better on the all-weather than he is on the grass. He has a few little problems but when you can get them ironed out he's a great horse to have.
“He's been a great horse and we'll campaign him during the winter. He's entered in the Mercury Stakes and we'll bring him back for that.
