John 'Shark' Hanlon has made an excellent start to the new jumps season and sent out his sixth winner since lockdown ended as his Woodbrook Boy completed a double for the trainer in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase at Wexford today.
Ridden by Conor Orr, the son of Doyen today followed up a win at Tramore last month from a 6lbs higher mark when making all to beat My Manekineko by six lengths.
Hanlon's Ballinaboola Steel had earlier won under Rachael Blackmore and following the trainer's second winner, his partner Rachael O'Neill reported "I was worried about the ground because he is a real good ground horse.
“Conor gave him a fantastic ride really, he stole a march from the front and that was the winning of it. He is such a good jumper and he kept himself in it. He likes to make the running and he is a nice horse.
“He'd prefer better ground but I think he got away with it today because it was weaker race. We have no long term plan for him, we'll keep him handicapping. He can mix it over hurdles and is well enough handicapped over them."
