Halaziya moves Berry onto 37 winner mark
Fran Berry, successful twice yesterday for trainer Tom Hogan, partnered the Michael Halford trained Halaziya to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Killarney today, moving the rider onto the 37 winner mark for the season.
Halaziya chased the leaders before taking over in front two furlongs out, eventually holding on for a half length win over Karma Lina
Ironically, Berry's immediate victim today, Karma Lina, was trained by Tom Hogan, whose double at the venue on Monday helped move the the rider into strong contention for his first Jockeys' Championship.
Berry has now ridden 37 winners, two behind the trio of leading rider, Pat Smullen, Johnny Murtagh and Kevin Manning.
