Group 3 success for Crowley
Trainer Frances Crowley claimed the feature event at Leopardstown this evening when her Cheyenne Star ran out the length and a half winner of the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes.
The 5yo mare, backed from 6/1 into 9/2 SP, received a well timed ride from Irish Derby winning rider Seamie Heffernan and a delighted Crowley later stated "Pat (Smullen, jockey & Crowley´s husband) was suspended and couldn´t ride Cheyenne Star but Seamie (Heffernan) gave her a lovely ride."
She added "Pat (Smullen) rides Cheyenne Star in her work and, after her last piece of work, he told me she´d win this. She is a lovely mare to train and may go to Goodwood now before having a tilt at the Group 1 Matron Stakes later in the year."
